Andrew Salgado - The Silence Consumes Every Move ; Oil on canvas ; 30x30” / 75x75cm
This painting stares back at you with quiet stoicism, but there is plenty of turmoil in there. On a simple level I see the burden of a man who has to deal with his problems while pretending that he’s fine.
The hint of a military uniform suggests the weight of a sense of duty and code of silence when dealing with conflict and violence.
I saw this painting at the London Art Fair last weekend and it made a big impression on me - powerful stuff.
